PriorStates Studio · for Phone Orders

PriorStates Studio Caller ID

See who is calling in Phone Orders, on the device where you enter orders.

An Android add-on for the shop's phone that takes the calls. It reads each incoming caller's number and sends it, sealed end to end, to the iPad, Android tablet, computer or phone where Phone Orders runs. Calls ring as usual.

Set it up

Four steps, on two devices: the Android phone that rings, and the device where you enter orders in Phone Orders.

  1. 1

Install it on the phone that rings

On the Android phone that takes your calls (Android 10 or newer), download the APK below. Android asks once to allow installs from your browser; allow it and install.

  2. 2

    Allow Caller ID

Open Studio Caller ID and tap Allow, so it can read incoming numbers. Android gives this Caller ID role to one app per phone, so it replaces another app that held it, such as a spam filter or the carrier's app.

  3. 3

Show the code in Phone Orders

On the device where you enter orders (an iPad or Android tablet, a computer, or another phone running Studio), open Phone Orders, then Caller ID, to show a QR code.

  4. 4

Scan it, then send a test call

In Studio Caller ID, tap Scan the code (or paste the link), then Send a test call. From then on, each call shows in Phone Orders with the caller's number.

What it does on the phone

Calls ring as usual

It lets every call through at once. It never blocks, silences or rejects a call.

Sealed end to end

The numbers are sealed on the phone with your order device's key, so the relay that carries them can't read them.

Gone after two hours

It keeps the last 10 calls from the past 2 hours. Two hours after the last call, the list is emptied on the relay too.

Saved contacts, if you want

Android shows caller ID apps only numbers that are not in Contacts. Allow phone and call log access to send saved numbers too.

Studio on the same phone

When Studio is on the phone that rings, each call also shows a notification. Tap it to start the order in Phone Orders with the number filled in.

Your data

It reads the incoming number only, and it sends it only to your own order device.

What it does

  • It reads each incoming caller's number and the time of the call. A hidden number is sent as unknown.
  • It sends the recent calls (from the past 2 hours, at most 10) and the phone's model to the one order device you connected, through our relay.
  • The list is sealed on the phone with that device's key, so the relay can't read it, and the relay keeps only the latest list.
  • Two hours after the last call, the list is emptied. Disconnect empties it and forgets the pairing.
  • When Studio is on the same phone, the number is handed to it on the phone, without the relay.

What it doesn't do

  • It never blocks, silences, rejects or records a call.
  • It sends no contacts and no call content, and nothing else.
  • No account, no ads, no analytics, and nothing backed up from the app.

Installing the APK

  1. On the phone that takes your calls, open this page and tap Download the APK.
  2. Open the downloaded file. Android asks once to allow installs from this source, your browser: allow it, then install.
  3. Open Studio Caller ID and follow its checklist: Caller ID, numbers saved in Contacts (optional), notifications, and your order device.

Why it isn't on Google Play

Google Play restricts apps that read the call log (the READ_CALL_LOG permission), and the optional setting for numbers saved in Contacts needs it. So we offer Studio Caller ID as a signed APK from this site. To update it, download the newest APK and install it over the old one; Android accepts an update only when it is signed with the same key as the first install.
