Studio is free on your phone, on the web and on your computer. Using apps needs no AI; making or changing them does.
First: do you need AI?
- To use apps, no. The 67 Gallery apps, your data, your links and your customers' orders work without any AI.
- To make or change apps, yes. Studio writes the app for you from what you ask. On the phone, a free starter AI is built in, limited per day, so you can try it with nothing to set up.
- For more, connect the AI subscription you may already have, Claude or ChatGPT, through Studio on your computer, or add your own key in the app under Settings → Who builds.
A few apps also use AI for one step, such as reading a photo of a receipt or a menu. Typing it in always works too.
On your phone
Android
Free on Google Play. No Google Play on the phone? Download the APK from our site and open it; Android asks once to allow installs from your browser.
The APK is the same app, signed by Google Play. Open Studio and you land on your apps, with the Gallery one tap away. There is no account to make and nothing to sign in to.
Staying up to date
You never reinstall. The store apps update through the App Store and Google Play. Between store releases, Studio downloads its own updates in the background; a downloaded update runs from the next time you open Studio. An update changes Studio, never your apps or their data.
On the web
Studio on the web works in any browser, with nothing to install. On a computer it uses the whole window: your apps down the side, and the business apps show the list and the details side by side.
- On a phone, add it to the Home Screen and open it from there. iPhone (Safari): Share → Add to Home Screen. Android (Chrome): ⋮ → Add to Home screen. On iPhone, notifications work only from the Home Screen copy.
- Each copy keeps its own apps. The web copy, the Home Screen copy and the store app are separate, and none can see the others' apps. To move, use Back up everything in the old one and Restore… in the new one, or a copy in your Google Drive.
On your computer
Studio for your computer (version 0.5.0) runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It opens the same Gallery apps, inside Studio or in a window of their own.
- Using your apps needs no AI. To make or change apps there, connect an AI subscription with its coding tool. Studio can install the tool and sign you in.
- Apps that work with your files. An app on your computer can read a file or a folder you allow, run Python, and reach a printer that never leaves the machine.
- Your phone can build through it. Pair the phone once with a QR code, and the phone's requests are built on the computer. See Set up and connect an app and What travels where.
